Issue #35 - August 2020

Dear Readers,

Summer is half-way over (or more than that!) and we are finally starting to enjoy it over here on the Sunshine Coast. Despite the name, the coast has been particularly wet of late. The first part of July was either rainy or overcast.

The latest drama is that a BEAR BROKE INTO OUR HOUSE.

He broke through the screen of this window while we were out at a lake. Surprisingly, he did no damage. Just got our garbage and pulled it out of the window and also opened our freezer. It was intense! Now we are looking into maybe putting a fence up around our property.

On other news... Luckily, we have been taking advantage of nicer weather now, with lots of ice cream dates after supper, and lake and beach time. (BRAIN FREEZE SHOWN BELOW!)

Ori also has been playing a lot with Amy, his nanny and Nolla, the little girl he nanny-shares with. Amy is incredible and Nolla is, too! They get into lots of mischief together.

Lastly, work: I've been reading some amazing books of late, including the graphic novel, The New Kid, which I really loved.

My computer suddenly crashed at the beginning of the month, which was a bit devastating and very frustrating, because I had to expend money to get it fixed and also to get a new computer in the end (gulp!), but luckily I had back ups of everything, save a very few things. Good thing for back ups!

I have just submitted the 4th Anne of Green Gables early chapter book, and am mired in the 3rd Bibbidi Bobbidi early chapter book draft--plus lots of edits on the first two. And so, this month is looking like I might have a chance to work on something a bit new. I have a few ideas/plots I'm toying with... which one to write? I am not 100% sure yet, but maybe I will try out a few potentials and see which voice seems to write the best.

I actually find that sometimes a plot that has been sitting for a while writes the best, because it has been percolating for so long.

I can't believe that next month will be September already!!!! But, first, August :)

xo
