Issue #11 • July 2018

Dear Readers,

I have a surprise for you--unless you already knew because you follow me on social media. But... I had a baby!

Today marks his three month old birthday!

The last weeks have been the most exciting and exhausting and wonderful of my life. I love this little boy so much.

And of course, I've already been reading to him nonstop!

It's really neat to see how he definitely is attracted to the black and white books the most.

I've been loving the following:

And:

But truly, there are too many great titles to show off here! Zog, by Julia Donaldson; Hug Machine by Scott Campbell, Sometimes We Think You are a Monkey by Johanna Skibsrud and Sarah Blacker and illustrated by Julie Morstad, and It's Time for Bed by Mem Fox (a classic).

Have I had a chance to do any of my own writing? Actually, babies sleep quite a bit during the day, so I've managed to find time to write a new picture book, and work on some plotting for a new chapter book series. So I feel pretty good about that!

July also marks another birthday--a book birthday. On July 3rd my last book in the Heartwood Hotel series comes out: Home Again!

This book is all about family (and a fire Fernwood Forest), and I think it is so perfect that I've just grown my family too.

My goal is to try and find a good balance between being a mom to my lovely Ori, and a writer and editor still, because I do truly love what I do! More on that balance in upcoming newsletters! Also... a cover reveal for Wings of Olympus, my middle grade novel--which is totally stunning!!!

xoxo
Kallie
