Issue #13 • September 2018

Dear Readers,

Happy September! This is one of my favourite months, launching into one of my favourite seasons, with its crisp breezes and beautiful, colourful leaves. I'm especially looking forward to the cooler temperatures because it's been very hot in Vancouver this summer.

And ... Tada!

At last I have the cover for my first middle grade, The Wings of Olympus, which is coming out with HarperCollins US in January 2019. It's illustrated by the wonderful and talented Fiona Hsieh.
I really think it's perfect!

Fiona is doing a few full page interiors in the book as well, which I am thrilled about.

And, also exciting, a different illustrator is doing a cover and interior illustrations for the UK edition of the book. In the UK the editor and publishing team has decided to go with the title, The Winged Horse Race (which was the original name I gave the book when it was submitted). The illustrator there is going to be Lucy Eldridge.

I can't wait to share this book--and all its versions--with the world. As I mentioned before, I penned the first lines of it ten years ago now. Which is just phenomenal to think!

I wonder how long it will take to get some of my current works in progress to the final stage? How old will my son be? I can only imagine!
